Weak family and national support systems for employment in The Gambia were identified as drivers of internal and irregular migration in these agora sessions. Most participants perceived or experienced internal rural to urban migration as a ‘stepping stone’ to irregular migration. To this end, the persistence of advocacy against false migration information in urban areas was emphasised.
