About #MMAct
Who we are
Implemented in Ghana and The Gambia, MMAct is an 18-month community-based project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project involves focused interactions in research, media programs, and sensitisation on migration between the MMAct team, media organisations, and communities.
Its objective is improvement of migration competence and reporting skills in media organisations and communities. Ultimately, MMAct contributes to promoting safe migration opportunities, positive alternatives, freedom of expression and access to migration information between media organisations and communities. It is implemented in four regions each in Ghana (Northern, Bono, Central, and Volta regions) and in The Gambia (Upper River, Lower River, North Bank, and West Coast).
MISSION
Reshaping migration reporting for positive alternatives
#MMAct works at the intersection of journalism, community radio, and migration policy. We believe that credible, locally-produced information about migration — its risks, opportunities, and alternatives — can change outcomes for communities.
We do this by training journalists and community radio stations, running open community agoras, and producing freely available guides on migration for use across West Africa.
Team
#MMAct is managed by r0g_agency with country coordinators and implementing partners in Ghana and The Gambia.
