Many returnees experience rejection, discrimination, and negative labeling from their families and communities. Stigma contributes to poor mental health, low self-esteem, and social isolation among returnees. Without adequate support, some returnees become vulnerable to criminal activities, substance abuse, and other social problems. Success stories, such as the returnee who established a poultry business, demonstrate that with the right support and determination, migrant returnees can successfully reintegrate and contribute positively to their communities. Community dialogue creates an important platform for addressing misconceptions and promoting empathy towards migrant returnees.
