This radio show was held in Tamale, Northern Ghana. It drew from the agoras that were held over the month in the Northern region. Panelists highlighted advantages of safe, regular migration that are not available in irregular migration. These include legal protection, access to social, educational, and political support and services, employment etc. Regular migration was discussed as a livelihood pathway that reduces vulnerability to exploitation and abuse, which are almost inevitable in irregular migration. All panellists agreed that it was important for the media to help create awareness about centres with entrepreneurial information for young people such as the labour office, Ghana Enterprise Agency, etc. Moreover, the media should help encourage skills among community people on how to verify migration information on social media or from friends, so that potential migrants do not fall prey to fake migration agents that would dupe them and lead them to irregular migration associated with all dangers and vulnerabilities. In all we appreciate the Fila FM for hosting panellists.
